All these types of food are served in their abundance in the Louisianan capital. Jambalaya is a paella made of seafood, chicken and vegetables, Gumbo is a thick soup made from the same ingredients, while Crawfish pie is pie full of the crawfish (surprisingly enough!)
In more recent years though, New Orleans has been attempting to spread its wings. Rather than all restaurants specialising in Creole gastronomy, nowadays the number of Thai, Italian and other types of restaurants is increasing.
One of the best areas of the city is the French Quarter, just north of the river. Other parts of the city which are better than others are the Garden Districts, the Esplanade Ridge and in the CBD and Warehouse District.
